The Murmur House is run purely through contributors and volunteers. What we all have in common is the passion for writing and the arts, to create an intimate literary house for all starlings. Please note that all roles are unpaid, and are relatively casual. All starlings are welcome to apply, no matter where you are or where you're from. If you are interested in joining the house, make sure to be following our twitter and facebook regularly, as we post open recruitments calls on our social media channels. 


Fiction Editor

The role consists of selecting and editing short stories, prose, and poetry. You will have to work closely with the senior editors and digital manager to be able to meet deadlines and work in an efficient manner. Must know how to use Google Drive, Google Docs, and Microsoft Word proficiently, and be able to use WhatsApp and/or Skype (as this would be the main ways of communication with other editors and executives).

Non-Fiction Editor

The role consists of selecting and editing essays and columns. You will have to work closely with the senior editors and digital manager to be able to meet deadlines and work in an efficient manner. Must know how to use Google Drive, Google Docs, and Microsoft Word proficiently, and be able to use WhatsApp and/or Skype (as this would be the main ways of communication with other editors and executives).

Social Media Intern

The role consists of curating, scheduling, and posting social media posts on The Murmur House's social media channels. You will have to work closely with art director and digital manager, and will have to do the role in an efficient manner. Must know and have previously used Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook. Proficiency Tweetdeck and Hootsuite preferred. Design and photo editing skills are a plus, but not essential. Additionally, you would also have to be able to use WhatsApp and/or Facebook Messenger (as this would be the main ways of communication with other editors and executives).
